Hi,

Smoking predisposes you to developing all kinds of lung infections which can manifest as discoloration of sputum and also cause gastrointestinal symptoms. In my opinion, you should disclose your drug related history to your doctors even if they themselves neglect to ask the right questions. The medicines they are giving you may also be responsible for the gastrointestinal symptoms. Please ask your doctors clearly what they opine about your symptoms and also be very candid about your own apprehensions.

Best wishes.
