What To Do If Having Cold, Fluid Build Up In Ears And No Relief From Heating Pad And Medications?

I do not have health insurance and can not afford to go to a doctor right now. But, I have had a cold for the past week, woke up 2 days ago with major pressure/fluid (I think) in my ears. And I am struggling with ways to get rid of the pressure. I have taken sudiphed, musinex, I have been using a neti-pot all week long, I have tried a heating pad, and nothing seems to work. I need help fast!

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding cold, pressure in ear and head. your ears are blocked.

Your clinical history favours that basically you are having cold which worsen to involve the throat and reaches to ear via eustachian tube (tubular connection between ear and throat). In this way inflammed eustachian tue get oedematous and block resulting in Negative air pressure in middle ear and you are feeling it as blocked ear.

To get relief you should take-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Tab paracetamol.

3- Anti histaminic and decongestant.

4- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

I believe above will help you and you will feel better in a couple of day.

Regards.
