I have been struggling with dry lips for years now. It affects the way my mouth moves when I talk, as the skin feels very tight. The bottom perimeter of my bottom lip is perfectly fine, but around the middle of my lip it gets extremely dry concave pieces of skin that peel 1-2 times per week. Above that middle line of dry concave skin indentations is a darker red skin that is very thin and smooth and within a day or two will start drying out and cracking. That skin is very sticky and when I close my mouth it sticks to my upper lip, it goes through a peeling cycle every couple days. I thought it was from licking my lips since the shape of that sticky region is a half circle like my tongue and my saliva seems very sticky, but even when I don't lick my lips it happens. So when you look at my lips with my mouth closed it goes from a nice healthy pink lip around the bottom perimeter, to a dry region of circular indentations of dry skin in the middle of my bottom lip from corner to corner of my mouth and then a darker red thin sticky skin that constantly cracks and dries out. It is very thin skin and when I stretch my lips like in a frown and then release it, that region is all uneven like stretching out a balloon and then releasing the tension.
