What To Do If Having Urge To Scratch During The Day After Bitten By A Mosquito?
I had a mosquito bite in my natal cleft about 3 yrs ago that was very itchy. It went away completely and is no longer itching. But I still feel compelled to scratch my ass constantly during the day. I do not feel the need to scratch at night. How can I stop scratching.?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. I understand your concern that you are having an uncontrollable urge to scratch in the daytime. This could cause significant embarrassment. First of all, rule out local problems like dry skin, fungal infection or eczema on your buttocks. You could apply a moisturizer liberally 2-3 times a day and see if the itching subsides. If you have any visible rash, you need to treat it accordingly. You can take a non-sedative antihistamine like Fexofenadine or Loratidine orally for 10 -15 days. If you have formed a habit of scratching your buttocks, it could indicate an underlying mental stress. Do address it accordingly. Hope this helps you. Take care.
