Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What To Do If Heart Is Racing And Having Dizziness?
I am 26 years old and about a month ago my heart rate speed up for alomst 3 minutes with out stopping. I got dizzy since then I have been having little ones that do not last that long nor do they hurt as bad. I also shake all the time I dont know of this is from this or not.
Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is important performing a comprehensive differential diagnosis of different causes that may lead to this clinical scenario:
For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:
- thyroid hormone levels - an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring in order to examine your heart rhythm trends through the day and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia - complete blood count for anemia - blood electrolytes - fasting glucose
An EEG may be needed if all the above tests result normal.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
