What Treatment Is Suggested For Neuromyelitis Optica ?

hi sir, my mother suffering by neuromyelitis optica since one year, she faced two attacks, and by recent attack she lost her vision of left eye. doctor gave her methylprednisolone & daily doses of azathioprine. what should we do for recurrence not happen again in future.

Neuromyelitis optica is known to cause optic neuritis and it is the reason for loss of vision in left eye. It seems your mother has two attacks of the disease and the treatment given by the doctor in the form of methylprednisolone & daily doses of azathioprine is correct.
To prevent recurrences she need to use azathioprine regularly and it will prevent recurrences.
