Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Type Of Tests Are To Be Done For Cervical Spondylitis?
My mom is 82 years old and she has had terrible vertigo for over 1 and a half years. She has had many tests with no results. I think now it may be cervical spondylitis and vertigo. I want her to get tested but do not know what tests she should ask the doctor for. She lives in Canada where medical is free, but unfortunately I live in Brazil and cannot be there. Can you tell me what exactly she should ask for including tests and whether she should be recommended to a specialist.
Sometimes cause of vertigo is difficult to explain, but probably it is degeneration of nerve tissue sometimes in advanced age.nevertheless, if you want an opinion on cervical spondylitis, go to an orthopedic/spine specialist. he will ask for x ray/MRI if necessary and check physically if rotation or movements of neck cause dizziness or not
