Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 64 years old, Hispanic and in good health. No medications and no health problems. Recently (about 4 weeks) I have been feeling weak and tired. My question is what supplement (vitamins) do you recommend for a person at my age. I currently hold a full time job which is stressful at times, I'm a Residency Program Coordination in Surgery. Thank you!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Fatigue could be due to certain vitamin deficiency. Vitamin supplements could be helpful in such circumstances. However, more common cause could be due to 'Iron deficiency anaemia'. Hence, I would suggest you to get your blood checked for complete hemogram. If the report indicates less quantity of hemoglobin, then I would recommend for you to take Iron supplements along with protein supplements in addition to vitamin supplements. Also, consume nutritious food, especially more quantity of fruits. Gradually, your symptoms should improve and and you should be back to normal.
Hope the information provided helps.
Best wishes,
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
