Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I attended A and E last weekend after a fall with the X Ray showing what they read at the time as a possible undisplaced tibia fracture, however the specialist report has some doubt whether this is in fact a fracture. At what point would it be safe to weight bare on this? I have the knee in a Richard Splint. Cheers Tony
Hai Tony. any fracture of lower limb to unite and bear weight it takes minimum 6 weeks. richard splint is also called long knee brace. if it is a doubtful fracture and you are free of pain repeat x ray once again and no sings of fracture u can bear weight. otherwise non weight bearing for 3 to 4 weeks is enough. Thank u
