When Can I Get Pregnant Again After Delivery?

Your question: "I had my baby almost 3 months ago. I wanna know how fast can I get pregnant again? I had unprotected sex today & today I stopped ovulating. I read that I could get pregnant fast one day after ovulation. My husband didn't ejaculate inside of me but I'm still very worried

Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

You can resume ovulation even in the first 6-8 weeks after having a baby, even if you are breastfeeding. You do not have to have a period since the delivery to have resumed ovulation either. So you are at risk for pregnancy if you are having unprotected sex.

However, withdrawal is successful to prevent pregnancy about 80 percent of the time, so there is less of a chance of pregnancy if your husband did not ejaculate inside of you.

I suggest you speak to your OB doctor about alternate birth control methods if you and your husband would want to wait longer to have another child.

I hope i was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
