When Does Bleeding Start After Taking MTP Kit?

Hi, i am 28 yrs old , my last mensuration was on 15th oct , i test my pregnancy from pregnancy kit it was positive doctor also cobfirmed my pregnancy when i show her that pregnancy kit. On 14th nov evening i took 1st three tablet of mtp kit and 1 -1 tablet in the morning and evening on 15th, on the same day i got some blood spots but not happen more and further plz suggest that why i m not getting bleeding. I have already 7 month old baby girl, dont want second right now plz help....

Hallow Dear,

Medical termination kit contains two medicines - Tab. Mifepristone and Tab. Misoprostol. These medicines are very effective and safe for terminating pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestation.

Tab. Mifepristone is to be followed by Misoprostol tablets after 24-48 hours. Usually the abortion process starts within 24 hours but not later than 7 days. It is advisable to have a follow up check up after 7 days.

You had menstruation on 15 October and before 14 November your pregnancy test showed positive results. There is some confusion here in the dates. The urine pregnancy test does not give positive results before missing the period unless you have performed Beta hCG test.

However, the MTP kit should start termination procedure within 7 days. In very few number of cases, they may fail to abort the pregnancy. If these medicines fail, you will have to get the uterus evacuated surgically. Please do not continue this pregnancy as these medicines can cause developmental abnormalities in the baby.
