When Does Blood Sugar Return To Normal With Only Dietary Changes?

I got a blood test and it was 515 with food - then a week & 1/2, got another blood test with drawing blood - it was 301 after fasting. I have been pretty healthy for a long time, take vitamins and herbs, and menopausal support pills. They want me to take some oral medicine to help with blood sugar, but there are so many side effects and I can't believe I now have to get a blood testing meter and strips - I have known people who got healed by God and/or by diet changes. I had stopped my sweet tea and did not eat cakes, candy, ice cream. etc for that 1.5 week. But I wonder how long does it take to get your blood sugar back to normal while using diet alone to change it.???

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
I am sorry to hear you have been having difficulties getting your blood sugar in the normal range now. I am very happy you are this conscientious because having a well controlled blood sugar is very important in preventing the onset of diabetic complications.
as you rightly said diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise
but not all cases can achieve the target blood sugar control with diet and exercise alone.
in some condition s its mandatory to take medication like pills and insulin for few days.
i suggest you to check for average blood glucose estimation called Hba1c% which will give you the severity of diabetes since 3 months.
usually with good diet exercise and diet control its possible to control diabetes with in 2 wks but it differ from case to case.
regards.
