When Does Swelling On Cheek Subside After An Injury ?
My sister s horse bumped her in the check with great force. It wasn t malicious, but nevertheless, it was powerful. She developed a large swelling that has gotten less and less, but it is still there after 5 months. Her local physcian in Wyoming really didn t give her a lot of information. Should she be concerned about nerve damage or anything else?
Dear caring brother Sometimes swelling after blunt trauma takes months to disappear. That is due to damage to lymphatic system which helps in drainage of fluid from our skin and subcutaneous tissue to the main circulation system . Formation of new lymphatic vessels take long rime may be years. So do not worry if it is not causing pain. But if it's cosmetically not good take a visit to skin expert and go for laser therapy or electrocauterization.
