When Heart Speed Up Without You Doing Any Exercise?

when your heart speed up without you doing any excerise what does that mean? this is for y son he is 15 years old and some times his heart just speeds up and he can feel it very strong then after a few min. it slows down again.

sometimes my heart beats faster at night when I am relaxing (81-87/ bpm. Even when I am sleeping and I don't know why. I wake up and check my heart rate and my heart rate can be 86 bpm  thought that the heart rate is suppose to go down, any amswers?
