When In IV Iron Replacement Better Than Pills For Child?

My 13 year old daughter who is a swimmer was just diagnosed with anemia and a hemoglobin level of 10.5. Anemia runs in the family and both my mother and I needed IV iron because the pills didn't work. At what point is IV iron replacement better than pills? The doctor has her taking 325mg of iron 3 times a day so I am wondering if IV would be a better option.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

When she is able to take orally then it's preferable to give oral.
There is no added benefit of giving it intravenous, iv is more likely associated with complications.
As the hemoglobin is above 10 oral route is definitely better.
Take care
