Hi & Welcome.
i can understand your concern.

Althea (Cyproterone acetate + Ethinyl estradiol) is most appropriate if you start taking it on the first day of the period as it provides protection from pregnancy immediately.

However, since your menstrual period has already started on May 30th, Althea may not be able provide protection from pregnancy immediately and you need to have a back-up form of birth control like condoms for the first seven days after you start taking the birth control pills.

Hope this answers your query.

Hi & |Welcome.
I can understand your situation.

The regular birth control pills like Althea pills would be effective in preventing pregnancy if you start taking right from the first day of your menstrual cycle.

You can also start taking now since your menstrual cycle has started from the last Friday i.e., May 30th. However, you need to take a back up barrier contraceptive method such as a condom for the next seven days as a precaution to avoid pregnancy.

To be more effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy it should be taken at the same of day regularly like after eating meals or before going to sleep, so that you can easily remember to take it. A pack is good for 21 days.

Hope this answers your query.
