Hi my period started early this month. I got primolut to delay period but I was too late to take it... I started taking it on the first spotting. Will it stop sooner or make any difference if I continue taking the tablets. I am going to Europe and wanted it delayed.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. For postponement of periods, the Primolute tablets are to be taken minimum 3 days prior to the expected date of periods- the period is delayed till you take the pills, and it starts after 3-4 days of stopping of the pills. .Starting of the spotting indicates that, the hormone Progesteron which is active in 2nd half of menstrual cycle has been already withdrawn & You had started the tablets on the day when the spotting had already started. I am afraid the delay you wish for may not be assured at this stage. Thanks.
