Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
shld i take sporlac tablet 1/2 and hr before food or along with food.... (and when i take food.. i will be taking an antibiotic also).. so please let me know.. and in the absence of availability of sporlac.. can i just take some curd 1/2 hr before food? Thanks!
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I can understand your concern. Sporlac should be taken along with food. Sporlac is a 'probiotic' which contains Lactobacillus. It protects the intestinal flora from the invasion of pathogenic (harmful) bacteria by producing lactic acid, which lowers the pH of the intestines and makes the surroundings inhospitable for the proliferation of harmful bacteria. Because the stomach acid kills many probiotics and eating reduces the acid.
So, Sprolac should be taken 2 to 3 times daily along with food for at least 5 to 7 days. It is prescribed along with antibiotic in order to restore the body`s natural microbial beneficial gut flora to fight against the harmful bacteria.
Hope I could answer your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
