Hello,
You have history of Ankylosing
spondylosis. Presently, you are suffering from neck
stiffness and
low back pain. You also have reduced spine mobility and neck movement. Treatment of the loss of range of motion in the neck associated with the lower back pain depends on the underlying cause.
Such symptom results due to poor spinal alignment when sleeping on a thick pillow or soft mattress. Avoid using pillows for a couple of days. Sleep on a mattress that is hard, avoid foam or Dunlop mattresses. Avoid sleeping in unnatural position, always maintain correct posture whether you are sleeping, walking, or running, etc.
Neck stiffness or tension in the neck muscles can also result from keeping the head in one position constantly, keep your head moving and do neck exercises.
Neck sprain can also cause such symptoms. Treatment is commonly done with cold therapy, pain medications for pain relief. Rest is important and gentle massage can be beneficial.
Damage or injury to various neck structures including nerves, muscles, vertebrae and intervertebral discs cause
neck pain and also limit mobility. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics, get required blood tests, imaging tests (X-ray, CT, MRI, etc.) done to detect the cause of the symptoms. Depending on the pathology and cause of the symptoms you will be referred to a
neurologist,
rheumatologist, traumatologist, massage therapist, physiotherapist or a chiropractor for the best management and treatment.
The treatment will include various type of therapy with conservative treatment for the best results. Surgery is recommended only when the pathology / symptoms do not respond to the treatment given.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
