Which Doctor Should I Consult For Headaches, Cramps And Annual Check Up? Family Or General Practioner?
What is the difference between a Family Practice and General Practice Doctor? I am looking for a doctor for my 18 yr old daughter who is too old for her current pediatrician, and wants to look into birth control pills for headaches and cramps, and she also needs an annual check up, what type of doctor should I look for?
hello madam, A family physician is a doctor who has a basic degree of bachelor of medicine and surgery and a degree in family medicine and who deals with health issues related to all the members of an entire family [he/she knows the history of diseases a person has been having for long period of time (years)] and a general practitioner also has a basic degree of bachelor of medicine and surgery but need not consult for the entire family . however both have similar qualifications.regarding taking birth control pills for just headaches and cramps is not advisable as there are other safer medications that can give relief from headaches. so it is always advisable to go to a general physician (as she is 18 years old now ) for annual check up and take medications only if prescribed by the doctor. i hope this has answered your queries
