Which Baby Milk Powder Has No Side Effects?
My baby's age is 5 months and she is on dexolac milk powder since birth as her mother's milk was not in so sufficient to satisfy her hunger, so Doctor's advised to take Dexolac at that time. Now from past few days , i think it's creating a lot of Gas in the baby's stomach as she cries more often & settles down when gas passes, besides this her stools also smells foul, which was not there earlier.... so i want to shift her on another milk powder. so, according to u, which one would be better for her ???

Dexolac or most other formula milks are cow milk based and hence difficult to digest. The gas is produced due to bacterial degradation of the undigested portions of milk in the bowels. You may give the child Zerolac which is a lactose free soya based milk and see if it resolves the problem. Alternatively you may try early weaning to semi solids although it is generally suggested to be done from 6 months of age.

Hi...this gas in the stomach is not related to milk powder. This happens when the baby sucks at the breast very fast and in eagerness to drink milk will gulp in air too. Unless the air comes out like burping or flatus this discomfort will be there and next time check if she is sucking too fast and gulping in air too. You will be more convinced.
