Which Doctor Should I Ask To Have A Bone Density Test Done?
I recently suffered a dislocation and fracture of my wrist due a bicycle mishap. I’m a 67 year old female, very active and fit for my age. I have had a bone density test in the past, but can’t remember when. I have just started taking calcium & vitamin D supplements. Which doctor should I ask to have a bone density test done? How much calcium & vitamin D should I take per day to increase the chances of proper healing of my injury?
Well, you need to check with a orthopedic specialist for the recommendation of the test. A radiologist will be able to explain you the report well. Also to mentions, consumption of vitamin D and calcium supplement is good to a limited extent. As per the recent research results, the consumption of vitamin D and calcium cannot be 100% helpful to avoid fracture and improve bone density.
So, a natural form like Sun bath and consumption of milk products to a limited extent should be good in a natural way. Bone weakening has a lot of variable factors. So depending upon the individual patho-physiological factors medications can be advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
