Which Drug Helps An 80-year-old Dementia Patient To Sleep?

Hi , I have a mother who is 80 years old with dementia and she has been using 100 mg Seroquel 3 times a day for aggressiveness. she is having hard time sleeping , any supplement or drug you may suggest help her to sleep thru the night? She does not use any excelon or other type of dementia drugs..

Hi,

It is important to be cautious while giving sedatives in old age. Avoid caffeinated drinks and use short-acting benzodiazepines for sleeping purpose. If she is a psychotic patient, she needs antipsychotic drugs.

Please consult your physician, he will check her liver or kidney function status then treat you accordingly.
