Hello Doctor ! I was using Acnovate Gel which contains Adaptaline, Clindamycin and Zinc Acetate .. but was not satisfied with the results ..So I switched to Acne Star which contains Clindamycin and Nicotinamide .. and Acnestar was used by me two years back also and I had got good results last time but this time doctor suggested me Acnovate .... Kindly suggest which gel is better .. I have few pimples left on face.
You should in fact use both of them, Clindamycin+Nicotinamide gel during day time and Adapalene+clindamycin combination gel during night time. Clindamycin is a topical antibacterial, mainly for inflammatory acne and can be used as a spot treatment only over acne; Adapalene is a topical retinoid, which is comedolytic and antiiflammatory in acne and is therefore recommended to be applied over the whole affected area. Adapalene also prevents new acne lesions. Acne treatment is guided by the severity of acne. While topical treatment alone suffices for mild acne; Oral treatment may be added in case of moderately severe to severe grade of acne. Oral treatment options include Ora antibiotics like doxycycline, minocycline Or azithromycin and Oral retinoids e.g Isotretinoin I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist would be able to assess the severity of your acne and prescribe accordingly.
