Hi, I am in South Africa and I have a 1.9 months old daughter. We were giving Maxtra to her for cough and cold and not sure what should be given to her here in South Africa since this Maxtra is over. Could you help me with some medicine which has the same contents?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cold which is probably due to upper respiratory tract infection . Well virus infection usually go away in few days without any treatment by its own , but sometimes when infection become severe and it needs medical attention. Need not to worry. Avoid taking outside fried food and cold beverages. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay. Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , CT scan and blood test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe anti viral acyclovir , antibacterial amoxicillin, decongestants along with anti inflammatory medications. The symptoms can also occur due to allergic reaction , take anti histamine like benadryl for that .For now take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion and drink warm water with one spoon honey in it . Also take steam several times a day to relieve the congestion .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
