Which Medicine Can Lower Triglyceride Other Than Diet Control And Exercise?

My trygleceride has shot up to 529. What tablet should I take to lower it besides diet control, exercise etc. Also my Uric acid level has gone up to 9.6. Advice what tablets are good with least side affects. Is Ciprofibrate 100mg(For Trygleceride) & Alopurinol(For Uric Acid) control advisable? In fact both have very strong side affects. Please advice?

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
I see that you have a high blood level of triglycerides , these is associated with atherosclerosis even in absence of high cholesterol levels and predispose to cardiovascular disease and is a risk factor for acute pancreatitis.
You take Ciprofibrate 100 mg a fibrat drug, these had side effects ,if you have muscle pain and liver function blood test you should interrupt them and change it with another drug that decrease triglycerides. You are under treatment with fibrates because you have a very high triglycerides blood value and if you didn’t take that you probably would have pancreatitis in the next future, for treat it you can use also omega-3-fatty acids.
You should have a healthy lifestyle, a healthy diet with low saturated fats you can use fish instead of red meat, doing at minimally 30 minutes of brisk walking every day, avoid smoking and alcohol drinks and you should control your weight .
You have a high value for uric blood level that is a risk factor for gout and is often associated with the metabolic syndrome and an increased future risk of cardiovascular disease. For these reason you should avoid the eating no more than twice per week of red meat. You should avoid also the alcohol intake because it worse your condition and also limiting intake of sugary beverages can help to reduce uric acid .Dairy products, vegetables, nuts, legumes, fruits (less sugary ones), and whole grains are healthy choices to help prevent gout by reducing insulin resistance. Coffee and vitamin C supplementation could be considered as preventive measures as these can lower urate levels.
You should take Allopurinol, during the intake of these medication you should drink 8-10 fully glasses of water every day to avoid the risk of forming of kidney stones and also you should avoid staying near persons with infections. You should stop Allopurinoll when there are side effects like pain or bleeding when you urinate; severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida JANKO
