Which Of The Two Drugs, Tamoxifen And Arimidex, Is Ideal After Mastectomy? Taking Lipitor For Heart Conditions And Have Undergone Hysterectomy

i am in the process of choosing between taking Tamoxifen or Arimidex. I had a single mastectomy for a stage two, estrogen positive, breast cancer. I had one seminal node infected and had nice nodes removed. I am 58 yrs old and very active physically. Exercise and fitness is important to me. I had a complete hysterectomy about 12 years ago. I have a family history of heart problems and take Lipitor. What should I be most concerned with when considering either of these drugs?

Tamoxifen is time tested and many studies conducted drug. Armidex is new version and comparing to the tamoxifen , not superior to it. the cost is also a factor in deciding the drug. the prominent problem of tamoxifen is uterus enlargement. As you have undergone already Hysterectomy, this problem is excluded. The other problems such as hot flashes will occur with both drugs.You can decide any one drug depend on theses factors and discuss with your oncologist. One thing is must you should do, that is taking any one. it is not advisable not to take drug at any cost.
