Whom To Consult For Pain In The Legs In A Stroke Survivor?

I am 74 yesr old woman who had a stroke in 2009. The stroke left me extremely weak on left side, especially my leg which drags when I WALK. I have been thru numerous therapies only for the weakness to return. Now I constantly suffer with pain which goes down the back of both legs causing extreme pain when walking. None of my doctors have addressed this issue and it is getting worse. Who or what type of dr should I see? thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have understood your concern about pain in leg after stroke, see pain may be due to many reasons, Among these, one major cause is inactive life style so that muscles will not work properly and that leads to sluggish blood supply to peripheral areas like legs, and when you walk need increases so supply is less and need is more, so ultimately pain will be there in legs, you need to consult only physiotherapy doctor who can reduce your pain

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
