Whooshing Sound In Ears, Pressure In Head, High BP. Any Ideas?

I've been having a whooshing sound in my ears followed by a surge of pressure in my head right as Im drifting off to sleep. It gets strong and wakes me up. This can happen multiple times in a night and is really disrupting my sleep. It isn't anxiety -I know what that feels like for me- and I historically haven't had sleep issues. I know my blood pressure is up during and right after these episodes. My doctor doesn't know what to make of my symptoms. Ideas?

Hello and welcome to health care magic,

You seem to be having what we call as the tinnitus which is very common and may have innumerable causes.

Most of the times such a tinntus can be just due to a simple cold and eustachian tube block and can go away with a simple antibiotic like the amox-clav along with antihistamine like levocetrizine. You may try them in consultation with your doctor.

You may also try steam inhalation and see if that helps

If nothing works then you must take an audiometry test like the PTA and impedance along with CT of the temporal bone and get back to me or any ENT with the reports

hope you get well soon

regards
