in 20003 I coughed up the blood and so many testes doctor told me that I have scare on my right lungs which he said is chronic bronchitis and he said I don,t need any medication because it is minar. Now after 8 years it stared again and Iam couhging up blood what do you think, Thanks
Coughing up blood is called hemoptysis and can be a very serious problems if not investigated to know the exact cause. Scar of lungs do not bleed hence I would advise you the following investigations to get the exact cause so that an appropriate management can be done: - X-ray of chest in PA and Lateral positions will give some idea - Contrast enhanced CT scan of lungs gives better idea - Bronchoscopy may be needed and may be biopsy - Tests of sputum for Tuberculosis, cancer cells, culture and sensitivity - Relevant tests of blood. All these will give a proper cause so that a specific treatment as per the cause found will be done.
