Why Am I Experiencing Episodes Where Everything Seems Surreal?

Hi there, I am seeking medical advise about these recent episodes where everything seems really surreal. Its not light headed, and not headache. It just feels really strange, it feels like early signs of a seizure or a stroke or something. Its hard to explain. I used to use substances when I was younger, and I still smoke cigarettes up to this day. That is the only explanation I can think of as to why this might happen. But that was along time ago. I was wondering if this is a common medical condition, or something psychological. It is something new and worrisome. Thanks for your advise.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

You need to rule out neurological causes with an MRI Brain and then EEG before concluding it to be psychological. Consult a psychiatrist, get the emulation done and seek remedy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jagadeesan, Psychiatrist
