I saw what looked to be like a black piece of gravel when I urinated. I only have one kidney so when I saw this I thought it could be a stone. I past gravel every so often so I didnt think it was a big deal. I retreaved it from the toilet and when I pushed on it on the white counter top it appeared to be blood that came out of it. I dont know what to do please help. Thanks
Hi, I’ve looked at your symptoms and you seem to have passed out a kidney stone. Normally it’s not a major cause for worry and it is usual to pass a little bit of blood when a stone passes out, but I would like to caution you that you need specialist evaluation because of two things One is the fact that you have repeated episodes of passing gravel, which means you have an underlying tendency for stone formation. The next is because of the fact the you have only one kidney, it’s possible for any of these stones to cause obstruction and lead to kidney failure. Hope this was helpful Regards, Dr Karthik Rajan
