Why Am I Getting Itchy Rashes On My Feet And Arms At 29 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Hi. I am 29 weeks pregnant I have been having this skin condition whereby I get rashes on my feet and arms and they itch very much.. They are so uncomfortable am just wondering what could be wrong and is my baby still OK in there? Please help
Itching in pregnancy is quite common. It can most commonly be due to less significant causes happening due to hormonal changes in pregnancy. The most common and harmless cause of rash is PUPPP (pruritic urticarial plaques and papules of pregnancy) happening in third trimester.it can be managed with topical creams and antihistamines.
But you also have to rule out other cause that is obstetric cholestasis which is significant but not very common. If possible please try to do a liver function test and serum bile acid level. If these tests are normal then you needn't worry. It is always good to keep a fetal kick chart that is check / feel for fetal movements for an hour after having food. 3 or more movements will confirm fetal wellbeing. This is something that you can easily do your self to ensure fetal wellbeing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
