Why Am I Having Severe Hair Fall After Taking Cabergoline For Increased Prolactin Level?
Iam 25, Just started taking cabergoline 0.25 tablets 1 tablet per week. For increased prolactin levels in my blood. I have noticed the medication is causing very severe hair fall and iam concerned. I would like to know if there is anything i can do to prevent this. Before i make another appointment with my endocrinologist.
Hair loss is not a common side effect from Cabergoline, it is however listed under incidence not known category for the drug. Hair loss is also associated with hyperprolactinemia, which is the condition of increased prolactin level. Treatment for increased prolactin can be stressful for certain individuals, and stress is also a known cause for hair loss- and thinning. It would seem that you have several factors which could cause hair loss, but judging by the timing, the Cabergoline is the most likely culprit. I would discuss this with your endocrinologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
