Why Am I Loosing Appetite And And Having Consistent Weight?

Hi.. i am a girl (not married) going to turn 28 in 3 months. I have been using practin for past one year, i had a consistent weight for very very long (36 kg/ 5 feet, way below BMI), but after having those tablets, i felt really hungry and ate alot, i had it with Neksium, it was prescribed to me because i had great nausea in the mornings and used to have acute belching. my weight is now 41 kgs. Now for nearly two weeks, i dont feel hungry at all. What do you think went wrong?

Hello,
I had gone through your question carefully and i will try my best to resolve your query.

Practin (cyproheptadine) is commonly used as an appetite enhancer and it can increase your weight also. But this kind of drugs should always be taken under the prescription of a doctor to avoid its misuse or addiction or side effects.

Practin on long term use can cause stomach upset, sleeplessness, dizziness and even blurred vision, so it should not be taken for long term. As you were using it for more than a year and possibly these symptoms (nausea, belching, etc.) are the side effects of this drug, so i would recommend you to stop using practin.

Instead you can take healthy diet containing green leafy vegetables, citrous fruits, milk and milk products, protein rich diet and also have some kind of exercise in form of walking. These all will be very beneficial to you in long run and you will be protected from side effects of any such medications.

Hope this answers your question and let me know directly if you have any further relevant queries, i will be happy to guide you further.
