Why Am I Nodding Off While Idle?

I am 46 years old. I have been losing my (desk) jobs for many years, and I am just finding out that I am nodding off. I also have been told by friends and family that I nod off occasionally - not while talking, but when I m idle. I ve tested my blood sugar a few times and found it to be very low - in the 50 s.

Hello,

I presume you do not have diabetes.
As you very correctly said you are getting episodes of very low blood sugar which is altering your sensorium. It may be making you temporarily unconscious.
You probably have a condition called Insulinoma in which excess insulin is produced driving the blood sugar to very low levels. The other possibility is a reactive hypoglycemia.
I think you should see a specialist in Internal Medicine or an endocrinologist and have the tests done to make the diagnosis.
I shall be happy to know of the outcome and also be happy to answer any query you may have.
I find this answer helpful
