Why Am I Numb In My Right Ear After A Skull Fracture?
I fainted on Friday and knocked myself out. Woke up in an ambulance and was taken to hos. I fractured my skull. Stayed in hos until Sun. Am still numb in my right ear and can't hear properly. I'm supposed to be going to Vegas this Thursday-is it advisable to fly?
Hi, I feel probably you have injured your temporal bone causing bleeding in middle ear ( haemotympanum) or ossicular discontinuity or injury to hearing nerve . These may be the reason for hearing lose. Numbness in ear also will be injury to the ear nerve. This has to diagnosed by clinical examination, audiometry test. Haemotympanum will resolve, ossicular discontinuity has to be surgically corrected. Injury to hearing nerve is irreparable. Need hearing aid, if its mild injury. You are not advised to fly at least for upto 15 days to 3 weeks after the injury.
