Why Am I Having Congestion, Cough And Blood In The Phlegm After A Tooth Is Extracted?
I had a tooth extracted last week..my sinus area was perforated so had two bleeds the next day....4 days later I am very congested and coughing up phlegm...it has had blood in the phlegm for two days...I am worried...my tooth feels fine and is healing....sinus does not hurt but this phelgm with blood concerns me. What should I do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
It seems that due to sinus perforation there has been bleeding and infection in the sinus leading to congestion and blood in phlegm.. Need not to worry and consult an ENT surgeon for evaluation an treatment..
He can advise you to take antibiotics, anti allergics and decongestants for relieving the symptoms.. Also get evaluated by an oral surgeon for checking out that whether the extraction socket is healing well and the sinus perforation has been healed or not so that proper measures can be adopted by the dentist for better healing of the socket as well as relieving the sinus infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
