Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Am I Having Headache And Nausea Before Bowel Movements?
Prior to making a bowel movement, I have a headache and often nausea is accompanied with these symptoms. This headache will not go away until I have gone to the bathroom/had a bowel movement. My headache immediately goes away once the bowel movement is complete. Often my headache/nausea will go away before I even get off the toilet. This used to occur periodically, but now it is happening EVERY time I have to make a bowel movement. No one seems to have ever heard of this, but when I google these symptoms, it appears other people are suffering from the same symptoms as myself. HELP!!!
* This is an issue of hormone-related alterations in the brain receptors for the perception of a headache.
* It is recommended to clear the bowel passage with support of high fiber diet, bulk laxatives on daily basis for a period of time under physician assistance.
* Meanwhile, deep breathing exercises, sound sleep would help greatly to combat the issue at best levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
