Why Am I Having Irregular Periods After Miscarriage?

hi i had a miscarige 6 months ago and since then my periods are irregular.my last period cycle lenth was 40 days. And it has been 33 days since i had my last period. I am trying for a baby now when shall i take a pregnancy test? And why am i having irregular period cycles?
