Hi, i've been having problems with frequent urination. I've been seeing a urologist and he has checked for emptying of the bladder, psa of 3.5. Prescribed cipro for 6 months and did a cystoscopy and found nothing wrong. Prostate exam with index finger shows the prostate is not enlarged. I'm male and 45 yrs old.
The frequent urination is driving me crazy. The longest i can hold is 2 hrs but i feel like i have to go again 5 mins after. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi It seems you are suffering from overactive bladder. In many patients the cause is not unknown but it becomes mandatory to do all the tests that you have described above to rule out other causes. Among the tests done your PSA is slightly higher for your age.
I would advise you to avoid drinking coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and cocoa products.
The next step would be to try a group of drugs called anticholinergics -your urologist should know about this. If this does not help then next step would be to undergo a test called urodynamics.
