Why Are Metoprolol Succ, Furosemide, Estradiol, Spironolactone, And Valsartan Prescribed For Mitral Valve Leakage?

My mother recently had to be hospitalized and they found out that she has leakage from her mitral valve of her heart that was causing her swelling, tiredness. When she left the hospital they put her on Metoprolol Succ, furosemide and she is on estradiol. Today, the heart doctor put her on spironolactone and Valsartan. Why are they putting her on so many medications? The doc says he trying to make her heart stronger cause they may need to fix her heart.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
