Hello and Thanks for posting your query on Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I had gone through the problem and looked into the details mentioned. It looks like your son has drug resistant epilepsy which can be seen in about 10-30 % of people suffering from epilepsy. Poor response to medications can be due to wrong diagnosis about type of epilepsy and choice of medications and presence of structural lesions (damages) in the brain which often respond poorly to medications. MRI of the brain can show strucutural changes and EEG will help in knowing the type of epilepsy.
So I personally feel you need to see a Epileptologist who is specialized in treating difficult epilepsies for detailed evaluation for epilepsy syndrome diagnosis and to look for alternate modes of treatment like epilepsy surgery to cure his epilepsy.
Wish you son a good health. I hope this helps you. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shiva Kumar R. Consultant Neurologist & Epileptologist Bangalore, India.
