Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I dont seem to empty my syestem. It seems there is a lot of gas and mucus preventing me from getting the empty feeling. And because of that I sit on the toilet everyday for past 10 years for about 2 hours. I have been told it is IBS. Can you please help suggest?
Thank you for your question. I strongly suggest a face-to-face exam by your physician. Some home treatments that can help include: increasing your fiber intake, increasing your fluid intake (water particularly), and starting a probiotic regimen. Probiotics are "good" bacteria that help the digestive system work normally or more efficiently. Ask your local pharmacist for a recommendation for a name-brand or product they like. Also keeping a food diary and comparing it to your symptoms can help identify "trigger foods" that make your symptoms worse.
