Why Causes Homosexuality?
Well not sure who to turn to who to ask and where I go from here.
I have 2 children, a daughter 22 and a son 20. Within the last year, first my daughter wrote me a letter telling us [parents] she is gay.
Just this month, my son came to me, and he told me he was gay.
At first I thought he was teasing me since he knows I have always struggled with his sisters 'coming out'.. But he was not joking. He said he has been struggling with this for years, tried to even join the Mormons to 'fix him'. He told me last spring he was depressed and I had him come home from college and saw he physician who prescribed an antidepressent. But since he has been home for the summer, he told me he is gay just a few weeks ago.
How can this be? 2 of my children; one female, one male and BOTH GAY? How did this happen? Was it during the 9 months I carried them? HELP!

Homosexuality is a disorder of sexual orientation but recently this has been decriminalised in a number of countries. The exact reason of homosexual behaviour can be predicted. Etiology of homosexuality if multifactorial. The multiple factors like maternal factors, genetic factors, environmental factors and psychological factors all play roles in homosexual behaviour. Maternal hormonal influences result in changes in developing brain along with handedness is considered as one factor that is responsible of homosexual behaviour.
Societal behaviours and influences, psychological development of individuals are other factors. Your both children have homosexual orientation and this could be possibly due to genetic factors also. Yes it could be due to maternal factors during development of baby. Please don't be distressed. As your son is having distress and guilt so probably he wants to seek treatment. Proper psychotherapy and trial of antidepressant medicines can help him to come out of his thoughts.
