Why Did I Experience Flashing Lights In My Peripheral Vision In Dark?

I just experienced flashing lights in my peripheral vision in the dark...lasted about 10 minutes. They were small at first but got larger and wavy. Turned on the light and they faded after about 5 minutes..when the light was on they were colorful and almost reflective.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are experiencing flashes of lights.
Flashes of lights needs to be evaluated to look for underlying cause. The common causes of flashes of light are retinal tear and retinitis.
Since the treatment for these diseases if done immediately they will prevent complications like development of retinal detachment, you need to undergo examination by a ophthalmologist to look for presence of these and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
