Why Did I Have Food Poisoning Like Symptoms After Eating Shrimp For Dinner?

thurdsday dinner time I ate 1/2 lb .of already cooked shrimp...(supposed to be fresh)....within 15 min I had SEVERE stomach cramps, shaking , dizzy and s hortly violently vomited twice. Thought I would experience diarheaa very soon, but it was black tarry stool.........took some pepto and cramps stopped. Felt weak..went to bed...the next day, felt just OK....but now, Saturday...I have off and on stomach pains, watery diarrhea, with no warning....(previously it was ok).......I did not go to the ER............but wondering if I need meds.

I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely due to gastroenteritis by vibrioparahemolyticus.This you get while consuming not properly cooked foods like shrimp.For most of the people it is self limiting and will improve within 3 days.Rehydration is mainstay of treatment.If you feel weak and continuing diarrhea and vomiting then it is better to consult your doctor or go to ER as you might need IV fluids and supportives.Hope this may help you
