Can I make that trip of several hours without messing up. Lee
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear pain after flying which is clearly indication a condition known as eustachian tube dysfunction. Well there can be many reasons for eustachian tube dysfunction like upper respiratory tract infection , sinusitis or post nasal drip. I could be due to creation of negative pressure inside ears. I would suggest you to :
- Avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object.
- Take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion .
- Do warm saline gargles .
- Apply dry hot compresses to external ear .
Consult ENT specialist again to rule out causes like ear infection, meniere's disease or wax buildup. Doctor may prescribe mucolytic agent , decongestant and antibiotics. In some cases doctor may also give tubes to relieve the pressure which is common procedure .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
