Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. I feel extremely sorry for what had happened. From the description, I understand that the baby most probably expired due to birth asphyxia. Going by the age of the gestation, the baby should have been mature at delivery. The presence of meconium in the liquor is mostly a common finding and can also be seen with fetal distress. The significance of this finding is therefore, not much. If, this is associated with irregular fetal heart beat during labor, decreased fetal movements/difficult labor, fetal distress is diagnosed. Fetal monitoring during labor using cardiotocogram is often helpful to make decisions. The fact that the baby was blue when delivered indicates that the baby did not receive enough oxygen. Immediate revival is needed in such a situation and if the APGAR score is less than 4, survival is poor. I am sorry to say, improper management may have taken place. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
