Why Did The Lateral Side Of My Left Knee Become Very Painful When I Require A Left Total Hip Replacement?

I require a left total hip replacement which is scheduled in December. However, a few days ago, my lateral side of my left knee became very painful and when I touch the soft tissue area that is hurting, l just about want to cry. It is also a bit uncomfortable to straightened out my knee but I can do it. I know I walk funny due to my hip issue but I am not sure what the issue is with my lateral knee.

Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to tendinitis. For this reason, I recommend using locally an painkiller ointment and consult with your orthopedic surgeon for a physical exam.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
